Artist's Comments

This basically documents my brief expidition into Enlightenment. I tried this environment for about a month. I customized it as much as I could but I still couldn't stand the way it functioned overall. I am going to be switching to something else soon.

Tried E17 yet?
It's pretty good, not really my thing though.
P.S: It's a lot different to E16 (this).

No, I haven't tried E17, but I may have to look up some screencaps of it. My husband seemed to be pretty fond of Enlightenment, but I could never get into it. I use Xubuntu now rather than Gentoo (I have been since about April), and I haven't tried any other DEs in some time.

I can't see all that much appeal in XFCE, I never even notice any performance gains when I use it.
Give me Fluxbox or WM over XFCE anyday :)

Really? What are your specs like?

When I went back and tried WindowMaker again earlier this evening, I found it's response times horribly slow. The menus don't seem to move very quickly, and all the rough edges looked particularly horrible on my crisp laptop screen.

Enlightenment... I just plain couldn't figure out. I don't remember how to navigate it at all. I think I'm going to wait for a version bump since E16 is all that is presently available in the package manager.

well i have a 2.60GHz Celeron
512mb RAM
GeForce 4 MX.
I think some custom repositories have E17 now, I think I used subversion though since the packages didn't quite agree with my computer.
